Dr. Derek Winegar has always enjoyed studying cutting-edge technology—whether it’s car engines, computer apps or the latest innovation in dental implants.
Among City Creek Dental’s core values is a commitment to excellent care and continuing education. New products and innovative techniques emerge every day in this business, and Dr. Winegar wants you to enjoy the very best. Since earning his DDS from Virginia Commonwealth University, he has participated in more than 400 hours of continuing education courses—all with the goal of ensuring his patients are treated with the latest, most efficient techniques and technologies available in dentistry today.
Dr. Winegar is a member of the Texas Dental Association, the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and he has qualified for fellowship status in the International Congress of Oral Implantology.
A Salt Lake City, Utah native, Dr. Winegar completed his undergraduate work at the University of Utah, graduating in Medical Biology. He is a member of Sigma Chi fraternity and prior to attending dental school, lived in Africa for two years doing humanitarian work for his church.
Dr. Winegar enjoys spending time with family, including wife Kristin and their son Jack. He is an avid college football fan and also loves tenis, cycling, waterskiing, and other outdoor sports. He recently earned his private pilot license.
Meet the Staff
Connie has more than three decades of experience as a dental assistant. A native of Robinson, Texas, she’s spent most of her career in Temple—including 21 years making people smile at the office of periodontist David Mikulencak. Connie is the proud mother of two, Courtney (22) and Cameron (20). She and her husband Rick enjoy riding recumbent bikes and camping.
Mary has been a hygienist for 35 years and says she draws satisfaction from helping others. Dr. Winegar and his staff are among the most favorite of her career. “We enjoy each other and have fun,” she says—all while providing great care. She and her husband Dan are the proud parents of four children—Daniel (age), Deven (age), Gwendolyn (age) and Whitney (age). As a family, the Doyens love to compete in all kinds of sports. Mary says her game is racquetball, and she’ll take all comers!
Kim was born and raised in Temple, Texas and loves the challenge of offering the very best dentistry to patients. “I enjoy the new technology and learning new ways,” she says, “and Dr. Winegar is up on the very latest techniques.” Kim and her husband Mike stay busy with two sons, Mason (18) and Marshall (14). They are bigtime Texas A&M fans and love high school football. Kim also loves shopping and going to the beach.
Sue has worked in the dental profession for eight years and moved to the Belton area in 2005 with her husband, Kenny who is a Staff Sergeant stationed at Ft. Hood. She is the proud mother of two daughters Alyssa (9) and Aaliyah (7) and as a family the Smiths enjoy fishing at Belton Lake. Sue also likes to scrapbook and sew, and she is an avid San Antonio Spurs fan!
Mecia is the kind of person who always likes to be busy—and as an administrative assistant at Dr. Winegar’s office, she say’s she’s just that. Quick-witted and fun, Mecia is a people person. Mecia and her husband Jason have twin seven-year-old daughters, Jordan and Shelby, and with a large extended family in the area, the Duttons love camping, four-wheeling, fishing and enjoying the Texas outdoors.
